Hello, my name is Kelly Hoerner and I’d like to introduce myself as your AlphaNet Patient Services Coordinator.
I live in Toledo, Iowa. I have two adult children, Ross and Felicia, and I have four awesome and amazing grandchildren – Ariana, Aiden, Kale and Kyler. I enjoy spending quality time with my grandchildren and family. I also enjoy riding my Harley, writing music and playing guitar and piano. Music is a great source in my life, it allows me to relax.
Before becoming an your AlphaNet Coordinator, I worked in home health. I started in 2004 as an In-Home Care Provider. Taking care of others has always been my calling and will continue to be.
We all have a different story to tell and I’d like to share mine. I was diagnosed with Alpha-1 in 1991, six years after meeting my biological father. He, now an Alpha Angel since 2012, was diagnosed as a ZZ around the same time, and insisted I get tested. I am also a ZZ. If I had not met him, I may never have heard or known anything about Alpha-1.
I started augmentation therapy in 2003, after noticing I was starting to get short of breath. Since then I’ve had my own Coordinator, and a great friend who has taught me the importance of taking care of myself. I’ve learned that the right amount of exercise, the right diet, and continuing to gain knowledge about my condition is vital.
I am here for that exact reason. I’ve been given so much from my wonderful AlphaNet family and I would like to pay it forward by giving back. “Alphas Serving Alphas” is our motto and one I believe in. I look forward to helping you.
